Mont-Tremblant regional history:
The region north of Montreal and that of Mont-Tremblant are part of Quebec's history. Colonists, farmers, and woodsmen established this area as their home in the very early days of New France's existence. Although the region is the birthplace of French-Canadian culture, it seamlessly blends in with English-Canadian and American cultures.

The colonization of the Laurentians was spearheaded by Father Antoine Labelle, who worked hard to convince young people to move north and start their families, when many were choosing to exile themselves to the United States and other large urban centers. After establishing the "Petit Train du Nord" (little train of the north) at the end of the 19th century, the region's economic activity grew and brought with it the development of the small towns and villages that we know today.

To better serve the tourism industry year-round, the Intrawest and Marriot corporations started investing heavily in the Mont-Tremblant region in the 1980s. The area's growth continues...
